Privacy

What Amend keeps about you (almost nothing), and who else sees a visit.

The short version

No accounts, no cookies, no ads, and nothing sold. Your lists stay in your browser. Visitor counts come from cookie-free Cloudflare Web Analytics, and the site is hosted on GitHub Pages. Amend stores nothing about you; the only thing it saves is a list you share with a short link, below. GitHub and Cloudflare keep only what's described below.

What stays in your browser

Amend saves a few things in your browser's local storage so the site remembers you without an account:

  • your lists of airports and which one you're using
  • which changes you've already seen, for the New labels
  • small settings, like which lists are open in the sidebar and whether you've seen the welcome

None of it is sent to Amend. It leaves your browser only when you share a list, as described below. Clearing this site's data in your browser deletes all of it.

Sharing a list

When you copy a list's share link, Amend saves the list's name and airport codes on Cloudflare under a short random code, like list.amend.watch/x7k2mq, so the link can open it. Nothing else is saved with it: no account, no IP address, no time. Anyone with the link can see that list, and the same list always gets the same link. If that service doesn't answer, the link carries the list's name and airports itself instead.

Visitor counts

Amend counts visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which doesn't use cookies or follow you across sites. Its script loads from static.cloudflareinsights.com and reports the page you opened, the site that sent you and basic browser details. Like any request, Cloudflare sees your IP address when it loads. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.

Hosting

The site is hosted on GitHub Pages, which logs visitor IP addresses for security. See GitHub's privacy statement. Fonts, scripts and images are served by amend.watch itself, so no font or image service sees a visit either. Links out, like FAA sources and plates, only reach those sites when you open them.

status.amend.watch and docs.amend.watch are served through Cloudflare Pages, which passes the pages on from amend.watch, so Cloudflare sees those visits' IP addresses too. The status page's recent checks come from GitHub through that same proxy: your browser doesn't contact GitHub for them.

Alerts and email

Amend doesn't collect email addresses. If you use a news reader app to follow an alert link, that app's own privacy policy applies to what you give it.

Reporting a problem

Problem reports sent to hello@amend.watch go to the maintainer's own inbox. They're used only to look into the problem and write back, and they aren't published or shared. Your email provider and the maintainer's also handle the message under their own terms.

If you open a GitHub issue instead, it's public and falls under GitHub's own terms, so don't put anything private in one.

The iPhone app

The app has no account either. It keeps your airports and settings on your phone, and it only downloads data from amend.watch and charts from the FAA. Notifications are worked out on your phone; no server knows which airports you follow.

Your choices

Since Amend keeps nothing about you, there's nothing for it to show you, correct or delete. What there is, you control:

  • Clear this site's data in your browser to delete your lists and settings.
  • Block the Cloudflare script with a content blocker if you'd rather not be counted. Amend works the same without it.
  • For what GitHub or Cloudflare keep, use their own privacy settings and requests.

Children

Amend doesn't ask anyone for personal information, so it doesn't collect any from children either.
